The Pennsylvania Women’s Press Association sent us a letter to announce an April 15 deadline for its annual Teresa Spatara Scholarship of $1,500 for a print journalism students working toward a career in newspapers.
To qualify for the scholarship, which is open to both men and women, an applicant from the University of Scranton must be a Pennsylvania resident and a junior or senior in the journalism track during the Fall 2008 semester.
Applications should include:
- A 500-word essay summarizing your interest in journalism, your career plans, and any other information on why you should receive this scholarship award. You may include a statement of financial need.
- A copy of your current college transcript.
- Clips of any of your published work from school newspapers and other publications (including online publications). Photocopies are acceptable. Please indicate the name of the publication in which the clip appeared.
- A list of your brothers and sisters, their ages and educational status.
