King’s College Mass Communications Department and the Times Leader will host a pair of free media workshops Thursday at the Burke Auditorium, N. River and Union streets.
A workshop entitled Media Ethics: An Interactive Experience will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
A workshop that addresses Clearer, Stronger Writing will be offered from 1:15 to 3:30 p.m.
The workshops will be taught by Al Tompkins of the Poynter Institute, one of the world’s foremost trainers of journalists and journalism teachers.
Tompkins is a former reporter and news director of WSMV-TV in Nashville. He has earned an Emmy, seven National Headliner awards, a Peabody and numerous other awards and recognitions.
He also runs the Al’s Morning Meeting blog at Poynter.
This is a great opportunity for journalism students in northeastern Pennsylvania to gain more insight into the world of professional journalism. I’ll be mentioning it classes Monday, but I recommend you take the time to attend.
