Scranton… a journalist’s dream come true

Northeastern Pennsylvania offers the would-be journalist more opportunity than just about anywhere else in the country, local radio personality Steve Corbett writes in his daily blog.

Nowhere in America does news break faster and more furiously than in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

From one polluted sea to another rotten shore, bad news strikes with the quickness of a cobra.
Good news arrives as well.

But the wild news helps make us who we are – a tribe that’s unique to America.

No place has a greater concentration of potent press material than here.

Scranton (pop. 74,320) may seem like a small town to students coming from Philadelphia, New York or northern New Jersey, but Corbett is correct to point out that it’s a great news environment.

And, of course, there’s the political environment.
